Junior Ethical Trade Advisor

Working within the JD private label team at the head office in Bury, you will be part of a busy design and development office and interact with external departments and businesses across the Group.
JD private labels are an integral part of the JD retail offering, and these labels are designed, developed and manufactured in house and our teams on these labels are targeted with the growth of sustainability throughout the business.
We’re looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Ethical Trade Advisor to support our ethical trade and sustainability efforts across our Global supplier network. Working as part of the Social Responsibility team an employee in this occupation interacts with a wide range of stakeholders including colleagues, managers, customers and internal and external suppliers. Key Duties/Responsibilities:
• Assisting with the coordination of supplier audits and follow-up actions
• Maintaining and updating ethical trade data and records
• Supporting the preparation of reports, presentations, and internal updates
• Monitoring industry developments and researching human rights risks
• Helping to organise supplier training sessions and awareness campaigns
• Collaborating with internal teams (e.g. Buying, Sourcing, ESG) to support ethical trade initiatives
Desired Skills & Qualities:
• A strong interest in ethical trade, sustainability, or human rights
• Excellent organisational and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint
• A proactive attitude and eagerness to learn
Beneficial but not essential.
• A degree or coursework in Ethics/ Sustainability, International Development, Business, or a related field
• Internship or volunteer experience in CSR, ESG, or supply chain
• Familiarity with audit processes or ethical sourcing standards (e.g. SMETA, ETI Base Code
